We are really excited to announce that Winchester Distillery is expanding and you can be part of it!
Over the coming months we plan to install a higher capacity beautiful copper still, utilise more of the building to create a brewhouse, allowing us to use Hampshire-grown malted barley to make our own base spirit for gin, vodka and whisky as well as to process molasses to make rum. We also intend to upgrade the current space here in Old Alresford so that we can host more visitors for tours and tastings, and open a gift shop.
With Winchester Distillery’s fifth birthday approaching we are delighted to be in the position, with our annual average sales growth of over 80% year on year, to take the business to the next level. Having more capacity will mean we can make more of our well-loved spirits so we can enter new markets both here in the UK and overseas.
Not only are UK gin sales continuing to grow (19 million more bottles of gin sold last year compared to 2017 according to the Wine and Spirits Trade Association) but rum is also growing in popularity with sales increasing in both retail and licensed premises. It couldn’t be better timing to launch our rums, which we have been developing over the last year.
To help raise the capital needed to carry out all our plans, we will be seeking external investment for the first time since we started out in 2014. As part of this we will be working with CrowdCube, the UK’s most popular crowdfunding platform, to provide equity in the business for those who wish to invest, meaning that you, our loyal supporters, can own a part of Winchester Distillery. All administration, payments and share certificates for this process will be managed and run by Crowdcube.
